I went to see the movie a second time this weekend, and I took my 73 year old boomer dad. As a kid, I only saw my Dad on weekends and watched Transformers during the week. He never saw the cartoon because I never watched it in front of him. He knew I liked them, but his only exposure to the media has been the live action movies. I tried to tell him that wasn’t a representative of what I liked about the franchise. He knew nothing about the cartoons or comics. He really liked it. Better than the previous movies. The joke he laughed at the hardest? Badassatron. You guys said it went on too long. He laughed every single time. Even at the end when Bee had had knife hands and said it again. It was his favorite joke. He kept saying it on the way to the truck and all the way home.
Oh, and Charles. We have a Versailles in KY as well. We also pronounce it Ver-sails. It’s the English pronunciation. Ver-sigh is the French pronunciation. Think of it like the name “Jesus”. Spelled the exact same way, the spanish pronunciation is “Hey-zeus”. Different language, different pronunciation rules. Ver-sails is correct in English.
