Oh, we’re definitely cool. I’ve been a Transformers and Macross fan for long time, but have been into Gundam thru their plastic model kits. No worries man.
On the subject of the 3rd party Springers, a few episodes back you mention how accurate one of them was to the movie, but somehow still not happy with it. I’d like to add that the problem with that is due to boring G1 Springer looked imho. It was the thrilling 30th generations Springer that got me into the character, and still one of my top favorite toys in my collection.
Heck, the cartoon models for alot of the G1 characters, to be honest, were not exactly pleasant to look at if you look back at it(although the ’86 movie make them nicer to look at somewhat), so imagine my chagrin when I saw the current waves of MPs, starting with MP Ironhide, being too uncomfortably cartoon accurate to me. Don’t get me wrong, I started with G1 like everyone, G1 optimus as a character will always be my childhood fave, but depending on the source, there has to be a limit to how accurate a character must look in toy form. That’s why I’m more than happy if they add or change some aspects of the design, like iron factory’s EX-14 not-cybertronian Optimus Prime. But that’s just entirely my opinion though since everyone has different tastes.
I apologize, Yoshi. Please don’t rubberized me.
Oh, I forgot.
Do you guys know why the heck are they calling that particular 3p Springer ‘Allen’? That sounds seriously random. What’s next? Is Kup’s 3rd party name gonna be Woody? How about Ultra Magnus being called Harrison? This is hilarious in a good way for me.
I am definately all for the Laser Prime from Toy Base. I have 2 of the 4 uses of the mold(original G2 Lazer, G2 Ultra Magnus , RID Scourge, and the YOTG ) the original and the YOTG (YOTG isn’t all that bad, but not super good either).Though I may wait and see about it , mostly to see another 3rd Party or Toy base will do a trailer for him.
Speaking on the Renderform guns for powermaster Prime, I have never gotten anything from Renderform or from Shapeways. Do you mind me asking how things work out with them? From what i hear you order what you need but have to paint them or something. Can you tell me if this is true? When I get PM Prime I may have to try and get those for him just to give him that G1 look .
I want to say something about the Combiner Wars series. I have yet to watch any of it , but I have seen some people have combined up the first few episodes into basiclly one. My question for you guys is this ….Considering there is only going to be 8 episodes in the series and when all 8 are released and someone cuts all 8 into 1, which I am sure someone will do , DO you think that if they ran together that your outlook of the show will be different. If all 8 are made into 1 40-45 minute episode/movie or oneshot do you think the story would flow better??
Finally I just want to comment how much I hate myself right now. TFcon Chicago is going to have a great group of guests and I can’t attend. But you guys can !!! Did I mention I hate you guys now.!!!!!
Sorry finding out Bob Budiansky is attending is just breaking me inside. I have wanted to meet him for years now and ….you lucky bastards!!!
Don’t worry guys I am and always will be a loyal fan of Transmissions!!!!!!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS !!!
I haven’t ordered from Renderform, but have ordered the Shapeways RID (2001) Prime wheels. It comes on a sprue with the plastic you want, usually you can get different colors and shiny or matte plastic. I had to rinse out the wheels before snapping them together because there was a lot of residue on them that needed to come off. They’re not the same quality plastic you’ll get from off the shelf toys, but it’s not too bad. For a lot of 3D printed things you will need to paint them. Each sprue is one color and you might get a couple different sprues depending on how the product was printed. Thankfully the tires were black and no painting was needed.
With all the talk of two different third-party Overlords in competition, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Hasbro Overlord teased at BotCon. I’m guessing a Leader sized figure for $50-60 will be what the majority of us end up owning.
Time to warm up these feedback fingers…
Thanks to BIG C I have my G1 overlord representation so I got nothing..but if third party’s can do better on a old design so be it, but I feel the ones lacking powermasters don’t see right..but I might blink if that teaser image turns out to be him, he has to look good and have the powermasters (titan masters, sorry) and all his old modes…always did like base bots…and that iron factory version of overlord..
Sealslammer, nice to see a macross fan in the feedback section (even though its not a TF topic) its still nice to see one, even though im a robotech fan a tad more than macros..(it’s a “mirror” I grew up on), I still love it as well, and not to brag I got to help doing the new Palladium books RGP of robotech books THIS TIME around…its one series that got me into palladium in the first palace!
Now if only I could push Kevin into doing the TF rpg someday…believe me, I’ve done my fair share of shoving so far…
I don’t know about all these 3 part companies out there, I would hope they would collaborate a tad more with one another it just seems like do a a prime or a megs or dino bots, or combiners…etc
3 p cos ,here a few pointers:
Why don’t you do some figs on say like the female autobots for the search for alpha trion, or some play sets (may not be plastic maybe cardboard as backdrops, some body make some scaled ships, crap somebody make that transforming flero dery cybertron concept…do something someone else IS NOT doing, I just don’t get it ,make/BLAZE your own trail AND LET them follow you….do SOMETHING no other one/company has done before !
Heres one more EASY one, do the lithons from the transformers the movie, and unless you go with the marvel comic, its too easy (THEY DON’T EVEN TRANSFORM!!)
Sounds like c beast had a good time at the toy show, which is good, had a show myself today the CTF show in Columbus Ohio, picked up a beast wars razor beast Daryl complete (no tech spec, does that count?) and (Daryl IN complete) Movie cyberverse evac, and a cyberverse Prime shockwave missing a wheel and a missile (and a tech spec, but they really don’t have any so)…c beast may need your help on that last one..
Well the one topic I DO WISH to “reflect” on is ROM, man that was the comic book back in my day to read I did collect it off and on because it was hard to complete issues/stories back the I was 11-13 back then and of course did not know how to drive, but some of the issues were great.i just recently completed the collection and have yet to read the complete story, but some of those stories stand out pretty well the second annual was really good, I re-read that one a lot!
What I do remember of the series he was a cyborg fighting the dire wraiths for around 200 years and also had others of his race converted over to do the same “The space knights” the collected group was called…and of course rom was the greatest of these… (BTW BIG C rom at first did not slay the wraiths at first the neutralizer would send the wraiths to a limbo dimension and leave ash as a by product behind, leaving on lookers believing the human disguised wraith was slain, and speaking of how the female wraith took on the shape changing ability it was…gruesome..at best.. it was a bloody war and the 200 year time thing sorta confused me a little, but for the most part I followed it pretty well otherwise..i believe it ran up to around 80 (-ish?) issues (as well as another famous series), I even bought the 5 issue limited run “Spaceknights“ marvel did around 2007 i think? (minus rom of course , they no longer had the license) , so I feel pretty versed on telling the cast how well this new series may or may not stack up to the original awesome series, once i get my issues at my comic shop here soon.
(I DO know if hes not a cyborg, it a first strike for the series for me, but ill give this spin on it a chance)
Take care everyone!
I read all the Transformers, Rom and Micronauts comics back in episode the day. All excellent comics based on toys from Marvel. I wonder if any of the supporting Space Knights are part of the license.
