  1. Love your long term guest hosting for John Paul Bove’s show. Lol.

Seriously guys, your podcast is the only podcast that kept me on for so long. The Bove Christmas got me hooked, and since then kept me going during the long hours of work. I’ll be sure to 5 star whichever episodes that deserves it… Which is a lot.

Now for a bit of nitpick for this episode.

I don’t know if it’s your intention, but you sound like you’re saying being ‘gundam-y’ is a bad thing. Just coming off from some hardcore TF fans’ negative reaction to some 3rd party tfs that has gundam-like designs. If that isn’t your intention, I apologize.

Just wanna note that g1 and the original gundam shared some number of similarities between them.

    … Please don’t spay me.

    • Stupid me, I meant neutering. WTF I should’ve realised the difference, since I’m a guy…

Ok, I have to shut up now.

  2. Dual Mirrored Gridwork

WOW some one other than me posting earlier than I would?!
Sealslammer my hats off to you sir..
as far as the gundam thing i won’t say liking gumdam is a bad thing, OR the “gundam-y” thing?(ill have to listen to the ep of course, i do know i wish i could sell my 50 +plus fig collection though!!)..ill reserve judgment and tell you after the ep ill listen to of course
for me mecha i usually would play separate from my tfs and went my crew would game with them back in my day..(stats and abilitys and all, ask me someday ill tell ya)
EX:TFs were sentient, mecha were human piloted robots sometimes less or more the same size so that was my thought patterns in my head, but then thinking about it some more the fact that spike in the 86 movie wore a “exo suit” in which in my mind or at least in the palladium book worlds or worlds, yes i said worlds the RIGHT way,go look into it!!, that the exo suit is a small type of “powered armor” or depending whom you asked a mech,so it straddles both sides of the fence some what for what it is it just transforms, but then again so do some mechs .
as far as the look i have always felt gundams and TFs have had there own separate looks and style, so unless you AIM to blend to two together (and for me i mostly see that done in art), i can separate the two worlds.

HEY i just thought about two things, one i just broke my “streak” of me not posting in a while, and two for me leaving this sort of FEEDBACK….this is fairly short for DMG1001!….
    …….,
    Gentlemen,and my fellow transmitters,
i’m going to fix both of those..

    • Hehe, thanks

Just to clarify, when I said there is some similarities between G1 and the original gundam, and meant in terms of robot design. But I agree they are world’s apart in everything else.

On a side note, I hope JPB doesn’t really have a fusion cannon…

  3. Dual Mirrored Gridwork

    PS I’m not asking / don’t need spayed,just putting that out there…

  4. dualmirroredgridwork

Well… as far as the ep, I guess there might be a term “gundam -iey look” I guess….but I’m able to separate the two looks unless it’s in a art form..Usually…

But a few thoughts of mine:

I’m of mixed feelings on the titan masters, some are ok ,some less than ok…I don’t like the ideas that some are “titan” masters whom were not before if you get my meaning…and the cross capabilities/replacement heads/gimmicks..I don’t think work as well overall.

I feel fortress maximus is ok for a re/mold -tool,but lacks a lot overall for the end product… and no gasket or gromet, but perhaps that’s a area for third party..look at metroplex…but I do have higher hopes for a Titan trypticon coming up,I hope I’m not disappointed in this Avenue of hope for it.

And I’m not sure on the route the fiction is going on it,the idw side of things is feeling ok/good,but a tad rushed, and I understand why to a degree..and the pdf booklet released a little while ago does not help me much with it…so I’ll wait and see after the dust settles and go from there.

I still am holding onto hope (loosely) for a new unicron figure…time will tell on that one based on the image of the “leaked” image poster of a botcon awhile back ago pre- promoting the titan masters..the one that had fort max and astrotrain..again, time will tell…

What is the podcasts crews thoughts on the third installment of the prime wars “trilogy”….and I put it that way becuse i wonder if it really was planned that way…pretenders, target masters, power masters, micro masters, ETC …or do you feel there’s a new and fresh idea(s) coming down the pipeline that has not being “Currently Revisited”,so to speak..?

  5. dualmirroredgridwork

And I hope JPB s fusion cannon helps him make delicious deviled eggs….

  6. Dual Mirrored Gridwork

Just a last Minute thought …
What (in the IDW comics of course) Fort Max get a rebuilt/Upgraded Body from a fallen titan, that way it could “mirror” the fact he is a retool of Metroplex in the toy line…hes not that big in the comics and the titans are..
    What do you guys think?

  7. I’m relistening to this episode a few times, and I’ll probably have more to say later, but I loved the Maketoys discussion in the toys topic. All very valid points, and an interesting…. Er, well, discussion.

Vangelus once posited that Maketoys seems to want to do their own thing, but they feel like they can’t make the sales with nothing but original characters, which I think is very sad. His first example was Quantron – it only bears a resemblance to Computron, but the designs of the figures took a ton of liberties. Look at Lightspeed! That figure shares the race car motif and the color as his official counterpart, but is in every way completely different. Our Internet personality friend continued his argument with Pandinus – their scorpinok. The designer wanted to do his own thing, but was burdened that he had to homage something.

While I wont have any attachment, I would very much like to see more 3rd party companies doing original things. Look at FP Steel Core – a great figure of a completely original character. It’s a dangerous road, though, because I know none of you guys, along with a great deal of fans, need an attachment to a character to be interested in a figure.

I’ll come back after I absorb the rest of the episode. 🙂

  8. Alrighty, comments on the comic section: Jeremy, both you and Charles are amazing at storytelling. The authors of these stories are amazing, and you two do wonderful tribute to them with your synopses.

I haven’t read the book yet, but from your outline, the headmaster gimmick feels pretty hamfisted. That sucks, because I’d love to read about a Soundwave/Optimus bromance, because that sounds like either comedy or some serious shit going down. I like the toys, I don’t know if I’m liking the way the story is forced.

Speaking to Livio’s art – now, I haven’t seen this issue yet, but he’s a very divisive artist. I love his art, it’s absolutely beautiful, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of him doing robots that originated as anime robots. This is in NO way a slight against him, of course. I feel like his art is best fit to an entire story – like his work on the history books (monstrosity, etc). His art is jarring when it just shows up out of nowhere. I think his art is one of the best parts of Dark Cybertron, in fact – if you read the trades, or all the “floppies” at once, it’s not as awful. It’s not great, I’m not going to defend it, but it’s easier to digest all at once. The change in art styles made all the stories going on at once separate.

As far as the product advertising comments, my first thought was “I’m not sure if let my kid read this.” To which I responded to myself, “No, I totally would. There are some dark stories out in the world, if you can read, you should read some.” I had an image of a kid buying comics with his allowance money and falling in love with the stories… Which is exactly what we did. Of course the death and tragedy and violence would definitely take some proper parenting…….that’s why I love being an uncle! Hahaha.

  9. Oh god. And the movie news. The series is becoming a comedy as much as Mr. Trump’s presidential run. They treat it seriously, but no one else does. I love em more, the more that come out, but because I like really bad movies. that was a bold comment. >.>
