  1. Just some more information on that “oversized Powerglide” you guys mentioned on the show. Red Comet is made by Machine Boy Toys, who have many KOs and third party figures. They are the company behind Fancy Cell Toys Transportation Captain. They are also known as Meng Badi in China, Red Comet is actually part of a whole series of oversized Generations Legends toys they released. You can purchase Red Comet online for just over $12 shipped (and I have seen it on ebay cheap too), or get all 6 in the series for $30!

I actually reported on the development of this toy back in April.

Sadly the TFW2005 changed the title of my thread from “Machine Boy Red Comet” to “KO Oversized Powerglide”. I hate inaccurate titles, and they way they remove manufacturer names. Sirtoys is no better, they always remove packaging, and don’t tell you the company’s name.

Personally I have no use for it as a “MP Powerglide”, but I do like the idea of giving Combiner Wars Superion a larger gun.

  2. I don’t know if you read the Fun Publications story The Toxic Transformer, but black Tracks appears in that story as a Decepticon named Vivisector. So I take Vivasector as his English name and Loudpedal as his Japanese name. I am surprised almost no one knowns what a Loudpedal in car terms.

  3. I am surprised you guys kept talking about Animated and Age of Extinction Lockdown for MMC Jaegertron. He’s obviiously more inspired by Revenge of the Fallen Lockdown than those other two guys. http://news.tfw2005.com/2009/12/24/revenge-of-the-fallen-lockdown-on-card-with-bio-168934

I’m not sure if you mentioned it, but all those heads in the locker he comes with are replacement heads for Feral Rex members,

  4. I can’t believe I’m about to type these words, but I agree with both Passport and Yoshi that this last issue of ex-RID did not deliver at all. I will start with the positive, which is that John Barber writing Starscream is great. That’s always a high point of these books. And I really do like Priscilla’s art. That said, the art did not fit the tone of this book at all. I felt like I was reading a slap stick Transformers cartoon book instead of a story line with supposedly dire consequences. This book has Autobots losing their free will and being forced to combine, but instead I felt like I should have been reading Grimlock and Sideswipe from RID 2.0 running into each other while chasing a mini con or something. Another huge reason I was taken out of the book is because Priscilla also did the art on the Deviations book. Now, I know you guys have done a lot to put a positive spin on that book, but it was easily the worst comic I’ve read in years. If that’s what Transformers comics could be like in the future, then I’d rather have no Transfomers books at all. So as soon as Galvatronus and Sky Reign showed up in this issue, I immediately flashed back to that terrible combiner at the end of Deviations and I was done. Ok, rant over. Really hope the next issues save this story, because this issue has almost killed All Hail Optimus for me.

  5. Get your passport Darryl! I’m planning on going to TF Con Chicago, so it would be awesome to meet you and everyone else!

  6. Get your Passport Darryl !!!!

I just want to comment that the Ashura Knights do look nice. But I honestly agree that I would mostly want Grimlock.
Speaking on that do any of you plan to pick up any of the Spark Toys series of the War Within?? They are looking pretty nice. Not too long ago Benscollectibles on Youtube did a review of the Alpha aka Optimus, and I honestly will be picking him up I loved the pre-earth designs of War Within. If I am not mistaken I do believe they are doing a Megatron and Grimlock as well. I would love to see them also do a Starscream and Jetfire as well.
    What do you guys think?

  7. Something else I meant to ask is Would you guys like to some more repaints of the figures used in 53#? For instance Thundercracker , Slugslinger and Cosmos??? Thundercracker and Slugslinger could be repaints/remolds of some Aerialbots, while Cosmos…… I would have thought/think that Yoshi would be happy to see a deluxe size Cosmos. Same goes with Dreadwing , Blitzwing , Astrotrain ,Acid Storm they could all be repaints/remolds of Aerialbots. Where Mindwipe can be …….???

  8. I forgot to add this with my last comment, FatRob is one bad ass artist! Keep up the good work buddy

    • Dude is amazing! I hope he keeps at it.

      • Thanks y’all! (Hey I’m from Texas,it’s allowed.) I was gonna draw you guys a pic of Yoshi-in Iron Man suit vs. Big C-in Captain America gear, in honor of this episode’s epic comic book showdown. (Alas, work got the better of me this week.) Speaking of which, more debates please! There’s nothing like high stakes drama to satisfy listeners. Incidentally, I’ve gotta go with Team Passport on this one. I love you Big C but the shoehorning of ill-conceived toy designs into the fiction just left a bad taste in my mouth. And that’s with the solid points you mentioned. Anyways, great show as always. Can’t wait to see what awesome spectacles you capture for us next week.

  9. Um thank you for everything and see you at TFCon for the book`

  10. Confirmed passport owner checking in (except when I temporarily lost it in November, but that’s another story).

Darryl is a man of contradictions. The Cybertronian Beast isn’t a fan of Beast Wars (unless in a box marked $50 Canadian). Doesn’t like comics intruding in the toy section or toys influencing the comics.

I’m going to say that the review of TF #53 troubled me a little. Yes, the toy fit in was ham-fisted, but we all knew this was coming – especially since Titans Return is dropping in a couple of months.

Plot-wise, I find it interesting how it’s going to be wedged into the current series. I’m guessing Galvatron and the Enigma (n.b. band name reserved) is going to use the work of the Furman-era Machination group (Sunstreaker Headmasters) to create the Titan Masters. The there’s Sentinel Prime and (you know he’s coming) Onyx Prime.

I’m hardly going to be first to say this, but IDW’s Transformers comics are a victim of their own success. When Simon Furman began he had absolutely no toy-based constraints. Sunstreaker still doesn’t have a Headmaster. John Barber & James Roberts really turned the comics around after being so dull for so long. It wasn’t really until Dark Cybertron that Hasbro became so actively involved.

Anyway, here is a review which encapsulates my feelings on The Last Knight as a title: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxK_nA2iVXw
