TransMissions Extra! Episode 18 – Geek Civil Wars

On this episode of TransMissions Extra!, we examine the phenomenon of geek rivalries. Much like sports fans, geeks like to argue over their favorite “teams.” We examine our own feelings about various geek civil wars – Marvel vs. DC, Star Wars vs Star Trek, etc. We can all have fun arguing over our favorite geek passions, but sometimes things get especially heated on social media and Internet message boards. In the end, can’t we all just get along?

What is TransMissions: Extra!?
We usually spend the first 30 minutes of our TransMissions Skype call talking about other random topics before we record the main show. TransMissions Extra! is a more organized discussion of these topics recorded into a short podcast of its own. We hope you enjoy TransMissions Extra!

  1. I am a Geek !!! I love Star Wars and Trek. Though I have to admit that I prefer Star Wars in the Pre-Disney Buyout. I say this because of the fact that they through out the continuity that had been built up with many authors had built up . Great writers like Timothy Zahn , Steven Perry , K.W. Jeter , Kathy Tyers , Michael J. Stackpole , and Kevin J. Anderson just to name a few. Have any of you read any of the Star Wars books? Examples Thrawn Trilogy , Courtship of Princess Leia , Truce at Bakura , Shadows of the Empire , and the Jedi Academy Trilogy.
I for one would have liked to see the Grand Admiral Thrawn Trilogy brought to the big screen. I think they would have made a great trilogy to proceed the original.
Even if they didn’t come to the big screen maybe like the DC animated universe in animated dvd release. Now that would be something to have.
