That “Transmetal 3” Megatron was supposed to be his form in the 3H Universe comics set after he and Optimus Primal came back to life after Beast Machines. I wonder how they will use it in the fiction now.
You guys really thing the red and yellow Porsche will be Cliffjumper and Bumblebee? I’d think it would more likely be Cliffjumper and Hubcap.
Oh, as for why United Bruticus has colored feet guns, that toy is trying to be super animation accurate in the colors, and Bruticus had colored feet in the TV show. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/tfw2005-resources-database-submissions/27248358d1313436300-bruticus-generation-1-screencaps-bruticus2.jpg
I had to pause my listening to offer my two cents with Digital Comics. After listening to your reviews on the various Transformers titles I felt that I was left out of a great place within the fandom. While feeling down and out you guys tweet out the IDW Transformers Humble Bundle last year and I jumped all over that. A chance to start from the beginning of the story arcs and see what all the hype was about. The same week I purchased the bundle I did go to my local comic shop and picked up the latest issues of RiD and MTMTE, and I have been getting the physical copies ever since.
The point I am trying to make is for someone that wants to have them all from a source that is legitimate, Humble Bundles and Comixology sales are an awesome way to begin, versus hunting down back issue and trade paperbacks. I do agree with the great Stan Lee (if he said the quote) “Comics are like Boobs, they look great on a computer, but I’d rather hold one in my hand.” and I agree,
For some it is not a matter of choice but space. Having 100+ books within a given series is a space commitment, just as buying an LP or CD at your local record store. It all comes down to your preference and on how you wish to consume your media. I will generally buy a physical copy of a book or CD but will be more than happy to get a digital as I consume my media in multiple different formats.
As for the value, that never enters my mind. I bag and board my comics but as to assist in their storage versus trying to retain a value. It was the lack of knowledge of this option that prevented me from collecting comics in the past. To each their own and what they prefer but this is the 21st century and digital is here to stay. If you want to fight digital sales ask your local ISP to switch their infrastructure to Dial Up and that will change the dynamic, but that is another discussion for economics classes not a kickass Transformers podcast…back to work and listening!
I’ve been buying digital comics for a couple of years now. I did do some of the New 52 when that started, but quickly fell off that bandwagon.
I buy them because digital copies are easier to access for me living in China (and probably would also be back in Australia). I can get issues on the Wednesday afternoon and read them right away. My nearest comics shop is a 2 hour train trip away…
I started buying the IDW collections a couple of years ago, but those things are heavy. Digital copies are much more portable and don’t get ruined in the move or get drastically delayed in the delivery (still waiting for Classics vol 7 to come through customs 6 weeks later…)
I completely understand the space and weight aspect of collecting digital, and I for one had to make sacrifices when it came to my collection when I lives in Australia while on exchange in 1996. I had amassed a decent collection for the 12 months I was there, and when it was time to return I couldn’t bring any of my books back with me. Apparently clothes and pictures (it was 1996 remember, no digital) were more important.
Does it bother you at all that the value of you collection is zero. Where for example Batman #1 (from New 52) is sitting at $100+ currently?
I guess when it boils down I want my collection to be worth something regardless of whether I plan on selling it or not.
I agree with Matthew about the red and yellow Porches being Cliffjumper and Hubcap (though I was thinking “Bumper” at the time, Hubcap is probably right).
It was a heartwarming surprise to hear Yoshi speak so kindly about Masterpiece Optimus Primal. I was waiting for him to say “This isn’t my thing, but it looks nice!” It really does look like a great figure, I hope it turns out well. I do, however, have a single gripe. Why the hell can Optimus Primal get light up eyes, but Shockwave only gets light piping for his monocle? Monocular eye? That sounds redundant. Can one of you figure out a better way to put it than “single eye?” Whatever; I feel like Shockwave is more deserving of a light up feature than Primal is, and I’m a Beast Wars fan.
To the red Sunsurge – the only gripe I have about this mold is the fake roof chest. I just don’t like the way it looks. I don’t mind the cheating so much as I don’t like the result. That always bugged me on Alternators/Binaltech Tracks, as well. There was NO remedying that, though – not on that model Corvette! As far as the name goes, I don’t believe any of the Diaclone, or Diakron sometimes, figures actually had names. I could be wrong.
Um, next… I think Windcharger and Tailgate were Trans Ams, weren’t they? I dunno, we might have to consult Nevermore on TFW for that. Actually, I think there’s a thread. Oh, here we go: Looks like we’re both right – I didn’t realize Firebirds were a type of Trans Am. Now I feel dumb.
I’d like to see more of the Perfect Effect stuff. I wouldn’t mind new feet and hands for my Superion, Menasor, and Defensor (and Bruticus when I finish him), but the handfootgun – that’s the official fan term for it, by the way – will work for my Optimus Maximus WHO IS AWESOME FUCK YOU DARRYL. I actually like the stock heads for all of em, but I’m really trying to resist Computron. He needs that head replacement.
Anyways, I need to get further along. Emmerz is great, by the way.
As a huge fan of Beast Wars, I ‘m extremely disappointed in this Year’s Chinese Zodiac Transformer choice. Out of ALL of the Optimus Primals they could choose from, they chose a mold that didn’t sell even back in the 90s and ask for $150-200. Now if it was say, Optimal Optimus maybe because that would had been a better choice, it was even repainted in red, white and blue during Beast Machines even.
As for the MP Primal, I am very much hyped up for this! Maybe if this figure is successful, maybe we can see MP figures of Beast Wars Megatron and transmetal versions of Primal and Megatron (if that’s not too big of a stretch). And maybe possible MPs of Beast Wars characters from the Beast Wars Neo and Beast Wars the Second anime adaptations. And Maybe Takara might release the retooled Tyrpticon, Gigatron and the Beast Wars the Second, Galvatron.
And I am mega excited for this year’s botcon exclusive, this actually might be my first ever botcon purchase, I am a huge fan of the RID Megatron and Beast Wars Megatron is my favorite incarnation of Megatron. And I just love this recolor and retooling, to me, its perfect for Beast Wars Megatron!
Hey Transmissions crew. You probably recall that Matrix_Holder on TFW2005 has been releasing some leaks similar to those your source has been mentioning to use. Recently he posted:
-The laser prime headmaster looks to be deluxe In scale from what I’ve seen but only because of the level of complexity and I couldn’t see any kibble for a 3rd mode like all voyagers have but it’s only a design drawing.
-it does look like then new headmaster megatron is a triple changers like the others with a tank and jet mode possibly(future retool for a blitzwing? )
-There is a deluxe headmaster hot rodimus coming. It’s a very G1esque hot rod (it was the figure artwork designs and not the figure) as is the rest of this line. It’s basically rebirth 2.0 with modern design style.
Does your source have any comment on these three points?
Additional on Laser Prime:
-There was no image of a trailer or even his alt mode but he did have those giant shoulders that g2 laser prime had. He may be a voyager or a deluxe as there was nothing to judge scale bur he did have hollow forearms where his fist folds in and no kibble for a 3rd mode visible and all voyagers will be triple changers.
We have a significant amount of rumors to pass along in ep. 155. We held off during the 154 recording to show respect for Toy Fair. Keep listening, and we’ll satisfy all your desires.
Another post your source may wish to comment on from Matrix_Holder:
“Highbrow is an all new mold, he looks very G1. I canceled my fansproject preorder when I saw it. “
More Matrix_Holder that your source may wish to comment on:
“there is a power up trailer called apex that is a separate robot that turns into a trailer that combines with power master Optimus prime being developed by Hasbro….There are no design pics for the apex armor yet, just place holder images for inside resources. “
Another comment from Matrix_Holder for your source to comment on if they are interested:
“There are actually plans from hasbro to do the autobot and decepticon clones. There haven’t been any design images seen yet but there are some place holder images used for either shareholders or buyers in hasbros “whats to come” presentation. I just don’t know what molds they will use for the figures. ”
My own comment on that rumor: It’s a good thing we have a Deluxe mold that can become a car or a jet with slight parts changes (Blurr/Brainstorm).
Well you say that now c beast…anyway good show guys….I kinda feel emmers was just a tad shy on the show …Until ttts, yeah the tat may be pretty hard to outdo/top ..not so much where she may had gotten it from.have you guys seen the new 3p unicron fig based on bwn unicron unproduced toy?until I find that signal Lancer 3p fig, there’s a chance I might look hard into this.
Keep up the great work… cant wair to hear what tou guys thought of toyfair 2016..
what a min what happen to my question from the last show?did I get it in too late?
Hey all. Just stopped in to congratulate Emmers for a great guest appearance. And very interesting discussion regarding the pricing of digital comics. I’m an old school comics guy, so Yoshi’s boob analogy really struck a chord with me. Also, he said boobs.
I’ve also been meaning to tell you guys how much I like the new K.O. Korner segment. It’s what gave me the nudge to pull the trigger on a Jinbao Oversized KO Feral Rex. I love the hell outta that thing. But a warning to fellow KO buyers: Mine had some overtightened joints that resulted in a break! Luckily, the seller was cool and promptly sent out a replacement.
But, yeah, JOKOFeR’s great. Smaller than I expected. (Official Feral Rex must be tiny.) I hate his mitten hands and oversized heads on Headstrong and Tantrum. Other than those nitpicks, he’s aces! Especially that massive fucking sword!
That’s all, for now. Keep up the great work on the podcast. Still enjoying it.
