This thought relates to your review Transformers #42 (so this comment might also be “spoiler”-y ?…)
You observed that the Autobots seemingly accept an enemy-given datapad and plug it right into their network, and the insecurity of it bothered us all.
But, what if Transformers are a little naive or unworried about the threat of hacking or malicious code because it was never a part of their native culture? As machine and computer-based life forms, the concept of it might have always been taboo for them, much like the idea of genetically reprogramming other human beings might be for us.
(Not to say that it is impossible, but would certainly be frowned upon by most humans, and therefore makes it the realm of supervillians and clandestine government programs…)
Maybe the notion of attacking a living enemy with a computer virus is as distasteful or socially unaccepted to them as the idea of bombing our enemies with killer flu strains would be to us?
Neither culture expects such acts of terrorism or sociopathy from enemies in a straightforward, “normal” war…
In other words, a Cybertronian might consider such a tactic an unthinkable violation of their equivalent of the Geneva convention. “Only mindless, souless animals would stoop so low — these humans are MONSTERS!”
I am still disappointed that the Transmissions Crew is still down a man. I hope that the Cyber Beast can come back soon. We all miss him. Not to mention the grerat Value Village hauls he brings in. After all I love seeing how many “Darryl” complete figures he can pick up in a week. Though I will admit I have picked up a few “Darryl” complete figures as well. Half of them are a pain to find the parts for. Mostly being missiles for them.
I am also soooooooo HAPPY to see the Transformers Devastation game!!!! I was really happy with a lot the was announced at E3. Can’t wait to get the G1 game!!! As of now I already put mine one pre-order. I am like Yoshi in the idea of a Collectors Edition, I would love to see one get done. But I will admit after what Yoshi and I spoke about on Twitter on this. He and I are in the like mind that if there is a Collectors edition, possibly picking up 2 copies. The Collector;s and a regular copy. To keep the Collector’s edition put up for display purpose or just put away for collector’s value and the regular one to play. I also want to put Yoshi on notice that if he wants to do a unboxing and reaction video I am game to join him. Sadly I don’t own a PS4 yet. Though I do plan to get one at some point. There are many games on that system I want. Batman Arkham Knight, Assassin’s Creed Liberation and Syndicate , Uncharted 4 , Shadow of Mordor , GTA V(to play with Yoshi), Star Wars Battlefront, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake , and course another copy of TF Devastation.
Lastly guys I want to again put a option/suggestion to you. If one of you can’t make a recording for a episode, why not use a Transciever? I am always available to help you guys out. All you have to do is ask.
Umm… Let’s Talk Transformers!
The work you guys are doing in the Toy section during my absence is nothing short of mediocre. I’m desperately trying to get back on the show to save our poor listeners from such lackluster reporting!
Just kidding guys… but I am really trying to get back as soon as possible.
Jeremy, just because I’m away do you think you can slip the 2011 BotCon set past me? You’ve used that before sir!
But I must say, that Yoshi is expecting me to give him shit over getting the Deathshead figure, but has he forgotten that I got the same figure long before Charles ever got it? No shit, no shit will be given to you today!
Metroplex out!
P.S. I better get on the list for this… Haha!
Thanks for featuring my YouTube channel on your show this week. If you ever run out of comics to review one week you should really review some of those old audiobooks I keep online. They are pretty fun.
That adaption of the TF1986 movie was done by Ladybird books, who did a whole series of UK audiobooks. They didn’t have the legal rights to any of the sound effects, music or voices in the movie or cartoon, so they had to make something original up. They used their voice actors and sound effects library for the Ladybird books children’s audiobooks, but took the plot and screen captures from the movie. It ended up being a really funny combination.
Great show again – needs more Beast, though
Great show again ,despite c beast missing,it was LATE,but happy to listen to it non the less!
Some of the comments are valid… But it makes me think back to the film independence day, could 2 diffrent races computers work that way?does it really come down to the numbers after all?
Yak, it seems c beast is calling u out on ttts?!..well at least it’s not Gen metroplex,I guess…ill write more soon…take care all..
Could it be possible that alien computers are compatible with Apple computers? Short answer: No. Geek answer: Maybe all human computer technology was reverse engineered from the alien spacecraft in Area 51? So it’s not the aliens computers who are compatible with us, we are compatible with them!
Jeremy, I didn’t watch the trips to the store YouTube video but you said the free figure for Botcon 2011 was Toxitron. Not so, freebie was Fisitron aka Ironfist
you’re right…it was in a 2 pack with Sideswipe that year. I forgot about Ironfist, who was a repainted version of the Autotrooper set.
I’m excited over how Devastation is looking. I have the G1 game (Tranformers: Tatakai) that was exclusive to the Japanese PS2. As a PS1 game, it wouldn’t have been so great. But as a PS2 game, it was a travesty. Takara should be extended an invitation to come on your podcast and answer one question.
Lots of characters, though, and the character models were fantastic. That’s where I imagine all of the development talent was focused.
I do think Tranformers: Tatakai should be played at least once by every G1 fan. Before Devastation, it was the only game in which you could play as multiple G1 characters in their original incarnation. Its playable character count makes Devastation’s roster of five look feeble in comparison. In almost every other respect, the game is a punch to the face of anyone who thinks games should be good.
Oddly, I feel like digging up my PS2 now.
