First Comment!!
You are SUCH a dork.
Do I have to start banning TransMissions hosts from the comments section? 😛
First comment with any actual content!
That Apollo (SD Omega Supreme) annoys me, because we have not gotten a toy like that is non-Super Deformed form yet.
I just saw the first color pictures of MP Shockwave. He seems to lightly colored to me. On the plus side they seem to have made his hand switchable from gun to normal hand, and gave him a mini-Shockwave gun accessory.
Maybe Year of the Monkey Optimus Primal celebrates the tradition of them releasing Beast Machines toys in non-show accurate colors (I’m looking at you BM Blackarachnia and Silverbolt toys!)
Ohhh Sick burn Mathew!
I personally don’t like the way Hasbro does crossovers because I think the concept of a giant version of some fictional characters who turns into the vehicle they drive is stupid. I do not want to see a gigantic Luke Skywalker who turns into an X-Wing fighter. What I would want to see is a tiny Luke pilot figure that comes with an X-Wing that turns into Skyfire or some other Transformers characters.
I spoke to Rik Alvarez (formerly of Hasbro, now with Play With This Too, plugging the Kickstarter!) and he said they could not mix Transformers and Star Wars characters for legal reasons. That’s sad.
Among the few Star Wars Transformers I like were the ones that turn into giant droids, for instance there were some starfighters and tanks that turns into giant droids. To me giant robots worked much better than giant people!

As for the concept that “it’s only official if it comes from Hasbro”, you guys don’t seem to understand how licensing works. The TV show was no more made by Hasbro that tne TFCC magazine. Hasbro owns the Transformers property. They license Sunbow to make a TV show based on their toys, and they license Fun Publications to make a magazine and web page based on the toys. Both are licensed equally and approved from Hasbro. Neither is written by Hasbro, Hasbro just employs the people at Sunbow and Fun Pub to write stuff about Transformers.
I totally get what you’re saying Mathew. At least I think I do.
The problem here (and we’ve seen it with Star Wars), is that people are given the rights to write books and comics that are “cannon” only to have the work retracted. From Star Wars we’ve learned that unless it’s a live action movie, you can trust the powers at be with not retracting anything else in any other medium that is created.
So I think my take on this was that, you have a facebook page answering questions of Transformers Mythology. It’s technically cannon. But if Hasbro ever wants to retract and retell the mythology differently, I can’t think of an easier than saying that those old facebook posts are bull shit. IT would be easier then saying that about books or comics. But as we’ve seen with Star Wars, not impossible.
I could go on and on but you get my point.
If fans are happy with the facebook posts and answers, great! In lieu of anything else it works. But for me, it just doesn’t feel stable.
Of course Hasbro may contradict it later, heck, some parts of the TV series contradict other parts of the TV series. All versions would still be official. This isn’t like Star Wars where the movies are written by Lucas and then the books are written by other people under license. In Transformers both the TV show and the TFCC magazine are written under license. None of them are actually written by the Hassenfeld Brothers. There is no offficial “canon” Hasbro Transformers story, they are all equal.
Look at the Bay movies.Hasbro licensed Bay to make some movies, and they had plot holes. After each one came out Hasbro would license IDW and some novel writers to clean up all the plot holes, and fill in some back story. Then Bay would come in and make another movie and contradict those fixes in his next movie! IDW and tjhe books would have to fix it AGAIN. Those TF books are still official.
First of all let me send out my congratulations to Andrew and Emmerz for winning the contest. ( You lucky dogs you). As much as I had hoped to win I kind of knew I wouldn’t but it all good.
It was a great episode again guys and I have a couple of questions for you guys.
1) With all the entries you guys got and your plans to use them , do you plan to say who sent you that entry or statement when you say it?
2) I believe you have answered this before but I want to ask again if you have just to see if anything has changed on it. Are the Mp KOs really good figures? I have heard they are basiclly from the same factories and all. I just wonder if the lower price and buying quite a few of them are worth it.
3) As for the Crossover figures I want to mention a series I would love to see made. If you all remember in the Image / Devil’s Due days of doing the Transformers G.I.JOE comics the bots were captured by Cobra and redesigned into Cobra vechiles. Prime becoming a HISS Tank , Sunstreaker and Sideswipe into COBRA Stingers and so one. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of these released. I also wouldn’t mind seeing other GIJOE/Transformers comics line done. Such as Part 2 of the Devil’s Due continuity with Prime as a 1930s truck. Also the continuity where the Transformers are in WWII (done of course by Dreamwave). I just think figures from these series would be awesome to get if some 3rd party or even Takara and Hasbro decided to do them.
Though I will admit the GIJOE Skystriker done up as Jetfire is probably the only none Transformer Transformer I would like to own.
Gentlemen, thank you for another outstanding show!
Now for some smartarse comments:
Yoshi may want to adopt the motto “You had me at Casey Coller” for comic covers.
Charles *would* know that MP Grimlock has a light-up gimmick in his arm for his sword/gun, but he still hasn’t opened that box!
Hulkie looks great. I’m voting for more legends-scaled figures. I got Iron Factory’s tiny Not-Overlord and he’s awesome! I’m going to have to try and pick up the Not-WIndblade soon and/or City Commander.
Hey Darryl, I got the Platinum Blaster, Perceptor, and friends last week (half-price!). I was shocked by how big he is. Soundwave comes up to his waist (despite similarly-sized torsos). The Platinum Edition figures I got really capture the vibe of my old G1 figures, since all the stickers are on crooked.
I listened to ep #74 the other day – so this ep had a bit of déjà vu. Charles complained about the name ‘Megatronus’ and there was a butt-ugly Year of the Chinese-Horoscope figure. Going back to the year of the Goat/Ram/Sheep/Yang – I wondered if they hadn’t tried white repaints before going to clear plastic. Perhaps they were too close to other repaints like “Ultra Magnus” (there was a Laser Ultra Magnus, apparently) and/or SG Soundwave
Speaking of listening to old episodes – I did listen to #6 a while ago. It contained the first complaint that I’d noticed about the lack of rubber wheels on 3rd party figures…. by Darry!
I was on Taobao (China’s answer to eBay-sort of) a while ago and saw a bunch of knockoff Dinobots and other G1 KO figures – Swoop with a blue body, blue and white versions of Bumblebee (no red, though…). Made me angry/sad, especially since I kind of wanted them still.
So, a while ago I tweeted at Yoshi when I found a bunch of “G1” figures in a TF shop in Shanghai, looks like all those sexy figures were knockoffs. 🙁
Maybe Hasbro ought to be knocking down these guys’ doors to get the moulds.
What’s up, folks? First off, I’d like to congratulate the contest winners. Well done!
Second, I feel the need to correct our esteemed hosts. You thanked me for making a monetary donation. You’re welcome. However, you have either forgotten that I’m from New Jersey or you all don’t know what a bribe is. What the hell, man?
Hehe. I kid, of course. Thanks for another great episode, great contest, and great year.
Hello guys. Long time listener here from the Philippines. Thanks for another outstanding show. Too bad Deep Throating wasnt able to satisfy Yoshi this week though. =)
Well… The winners of the contest were… not what I was expecting….. But then again, I was expecting humor…. 🙁 . In the coming months I’m going to be disappointed every time I hear a funny Value Village intro, and think “Well that guy/girl should have won”…. Congrats to the winners regardless of my opinion though.
I’m still shocked a Value Village entry wasn’t a winner or runner up 🙁 …
I was a bit too ,but they felt it was a good entry and it did win…I was not thinking along that line, but ok..I’m truly glad emmers won it ..and as they said there will be other contests come along the future..
I’m also not saying I should have won, that wasn’t a “sore loser” comment… I dunno, I was just expecting something laugh out loud funny… Especially considering the overall explicit “deepthroating” tone of the show at times…
Chovner,
This was an interesting contest we did. We haven’t done one like it before and it was a huge learning experience for us.
I feel like the expectations where so high for this. Not only for us as hosts, but for all our listeners too. We all wanted to be blown away by the funny submissions. And we were!
It was also interesting as we each (including mike) voted for what we thought where the funniest entries and during that first round of internal voting we didn’t agree on on the same thing at all. I don’t think any of us picked the same thing.
For all of us it was not at all easy to pick a winner. We all know and appreciate the hard work everyone put into their entries for this contest and we will credit those who wrote our Value Village and show opening lines that we use in future shows.
Just from this it sounds like you (and probably other Transceivers), enjoyed the more random selection of contest winners from pasts contests. We might look at a move back to a random draw for the next contest. We will see.
Thanks for your comments, Chovner.
‘Til All Are One!
Something like “Transmissions, the podcast where deepthroating has been mastered to a fine art…” Lol.
Now that’s a winner right there! Let’s send this guy a sticker at least!
Lol… YES…. That’s more along the lines of what I was hoping for… Someone should send Ryan a G2 Bumblebee 🙂
Well Fuck.
I hate that you guys weren’t happy with the results.
Here is an idea. Just for shits and giggles… What would you like the next contest to be. or be like? We’ve already been bouncing around ideas for what the next contest will be and how someone will win. But what would you guys like to see? Maybe we can make that happen? I can’t promise anything. But if there are good ideas for contests, we will entertain them that’s for sure.
Contest idea:
Put on your big boy pants and accept the judgement of the judges. Either that or submit the most sarcastic comment. I win.
Everyone has a different sense of humor, but I thought the winning entry was clever and funny, along with a bit of subtle innuendo. And Ryan, why didn’t you enter the contest? That entry definitely would have been a contender!
The difficulty was getting all 5 of us to agree on winning entries. We all had different favorites, but we picked the winners by looking at which entries we selected by a majority or plurality of hosts.
Thanks for the honest feedback and we’ll continue to experiment and try different things out for future contests.
No need to send me a G2 Bumblebee. =) You guys can use it also in the show.
O k big c it was not “too subtle” or anything… but it does fit the podcast humor in general, and I’m ok with emmers winning,in fact if I’m going to lose to someone I am fine with it being her, so for me… nuff said
Now the tm guys can back me up on this but I sent them a 3 month stretch of stuff to use becuse of the love I have for the show, would I love to be a guest host on the show,of course I would!, but the will be other chances in the future for us all I hope,we all love the show, but our time I hope will come..yosh did say there are more contest comming ..the “Daryl complete” stuff however…I dont know about…..I got thrift stores here already!
Now to deal with my upcoming “annual solar cycle day of creation”…Sweet primus!
Next contest…all deepthroating… all the time…. I don’t know what that means or how that’s a contest, I just wanted to type that.
😐
Forget my idea. This! This so damn much!
Categories for winners can be…
Best Deepthroating
Most creative Deepthroating
Most inspired Deepthroating…
Ok, I’m sorry I’ll stop now… 🙂
Send all feedback to daryl@transmission……..
Thanks guys. I skipped a head for this episode. Want to congratulate the contest winner emmerz. Thank you Big C for pronouncing my name correctly sorry I didn’t indicate my name in the email. I’m a custodian and have about 6 and a half hours by myself so yeah lots of time to listen to ya’ll. (For entertainment purposes only). Also im from Texas Yoshi and I agree that cobra could have enlisted the combatacons just put a cobra symbol under their decepticon symbol.
Fuck yeah I’m on the list.
Big C I totally agree no pilots they should be characters not mechs. Never really looked at third parties until now cuz of ya’ll, that mini devistater looks awesome I want it. Han and Chewy combiner is my favorite cuz I love the Falcon and my wife bought it for me along with Black Spider-Man that transforms in to a motorcycle. Most of the marvel ones were crap I agree very she’ll forming. HULK TANK SMASH!!!
Congrats to the winners, suck it to the losers, no participation trophy for you!!! I kid, I kid. Contests where winners are “picked”, alway cause problems. Maybe next time, you could say something like, “we’ll pick our favorites and make our top 5ish, then pick a random winner from those”, that way, you’re weeding out some, but not actually choosing the winner.
That’s a pretty good idea, Joe. We’ll definitely think about it for next time. 🙂
