Great show guys. No corrections for you, but TFW2005 did make a mistake. That “X2 Toys Godbomber” was the DX9 Toys Amor Set upgrade for Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. The TFW2005 boards just mislabeled it. There are not two companies making the same thing. I told them the correction, but they have not fixed it.
Octavirate Forge is the company owned by Trent Troop, who also makes BMOG. He’s also expanding into Shapeways-produced licensed items through the SuperFanArt initiative with Hasbro. That’s why he’s making his own 3D printed Battle Beasts. Battle Beasts appeared as aliens in the Headmasters TV series, where they were called “Beastformers”, so yeah, technically they are Transformers characters.
Of the reveals from TFcon I’m getting that Grant figure, already preordered. I’m putting it in my Masterforce display, along with Play With This Too’s Astroblast and Goldmine, who are Phoenix and Lander. I’ll also get that DMY Doubledealer upgade to make Doubleclouder, and I’ll mix in some other Masterforce homages from Hasbro and independent companies.
Thanks for the marathon espisode, it helps to kill a lot of my time at work. Another excellent guest host with Adam White.
I have a correction for Darryl, Your Kre-O abominous has not only been release in Canada but it’s been out for several months and has had a restock or two.
The feedback section is excellent, it’s not only nice to be mentioned on the podcast but the little extra time you guys give to comment on the feedback or answer questions means a lot to those that took the time to leave the feedback in the first place….and like Yoshi said if you don’t like it just shut it off.
Solidarity Sir.
FEEDBACK SECTION FOREVER!
Another Great Show!!! It is always great to have some guest host on here and Adam sure did bring a great bit to the show.
I have to admit I was really disappointed in Big C and Jeremy in this one. Not for this show mind. But the fact they missed all this great stuff that was announced at TFCon. Don’t get me wrong the interview they did was great and I am not taking anything from it. But HOW COULD YOU NOT WANT TO CHECK OUT THE FIGURES. I would have been there in a heartbeat. There was so much great stuff there. Darryl if we all manage to go to the TFCon next year. I will be more than happy to join you in checking out the figures for then. We will let Big C and Jeremy enjoy the comics we can enjoy the figures. I can’t believe I said that. I am a huge comics fan too. But I still love the figures as well. There was so much I am interested in that it is hard to choose. Though I think the new MP Megatron is the one I am most excited about. I don’t own the original and not sure I want to from all I hear about him. But you never know.
As for the news about MIchael Bay not doing Tf 5 I am happy with it. Not been a big fan of his Transformers movies. I will give him credit for bringing Transformers to the live action and all. But I just didn’t like them too much for story and look. Though I would like to see one of 3 directors take up the call and if they did do a reboot or start fresh. The ones I would like to see do it are James Cameron , J.J. Abrams, or Zack Snyder. I love their work and feel they would do a great for Transformers.
Enjoyed the show guys, though I did find myself yelling out at the speakers a few times like when no one knew the Go-Bot that was being homaged by X-Transbots is Turbo! He was one of the main characters in the show :/
Also, I wanted to point out that if you look at several things from DMY and then go searching through Shapeways you’ll feel like you’re seeing double. Most notably check out that upgrade for TFPrime Megatron:
https://www.shapeways.com/model/694152/tfp-powerizer-megatron-s-fusion-cannon-dark-energ.html?materialId=6
I know Ariel Lemon also did a full upgrade set for Double Dealer too but I can’t find it on his shop.
Unfortunately the poor guy has had his stuff stolen by 3rd party thieves more often than I can count. 🙁
Keep up the good work guys ^__^
Great show again guys. It was great seeing Charles again and meeting Jeremy for the 1st time at TFcon. Hope I will get to see you guys again at another con.
My only minor critique for this episode would be that while Daryl did a great job at covering all the TFcon toy reveals, I kind of wish the rest of the gang would bounce more ideas with him during that discussion.
I unfortunately have to skip the modern comics discussion every show because I have not read up on the comics yet. Which leads me to my question for the host, what is the cheapest and quickest way for me to get physical copies of the comics?
Being a toy guy myself, my budget gears mostly to collecting figures, but listening to this show has gotten me to appreciate comics as another physical art form too.
I want to go through the comics as quickly as possible, so I can be up to date as the rest of the fandom and have an idea of what’s people are talking about.
Anyways, I apologize on the long feedback. Thank you again for your efforts on putting up a great show, keep up the good work guys!
Great Questions Gaboteur. I’m sure we’ll discuss your questions on the show. But, since I have a little time right now, I’ll give you a few ideas for comics.
The quickest way to get physical copies might be an online comic place like mycomicshop.com. I would think they would have most back issues and could setup a pull list so you get each issue mailed to you directly.
If you can wait on the stories you could always pick up the trade paperbacks from some place like Amazon.com as they come out.
Personally, I have a comic book shop in Washington State that holds books for me and ships them up as I request them. I like having a store to visit when I travel down south and comic book shop that knows me and offers suggestions.
Well boys and girls its DMG playtime again…
“AUDIO SMACK” is what I would call this ep, and boy what a fix it was! Not only was is as good as the rest of the podcast have (always) been BUT you had AD8M white on the show, so far the only person whom I feel gives Barr, I mean big c a run for his money on the “smooth voice “ factor…
This was a great ep to listen to at work and I’m glad It was worth the wait in the end, just wish you guys did more than one podcast a week but we know the toil it takes to do it, so I wait till Tuesday mornings to see if a new ones is there.
Here’s a few notes I took:
Loved the intros and flubs
Does this make adam yoda for helping to start in a way the podcast to big c? (Been a fan of his for a while now, he remembers)
Loved adams background tf fan story, and his help on comic reviews…. AWSOME!
Yoshi in a time traveling car and in the uk…is this a tad scary to anyone else for what reason again? , then again I worry about his… hand … in a sling…oh boy.
BIG C CANT REMEMBER A G-1 EPISODE NAME, WWWHHHAAATTTTT? Yosh likes a 3p fig a few shows ago now big c “forgets” a g-1 show title…yep its gonna be cats and dogs living together now…I can see it now!
Loved the talk about TW grant figure, I hope this means that there’s a third part trypticon to be put out there/coming soon… I hope then that will be the big four in third party form done.
Ok here I MY ONE QUESTION for the podcast, I know… but I’m tired today and I’m making my effort to/for the show in this fashion…hey at least it’s not a book…this time…
If everything being done 3rd party to compare it to MP-10 is in master piece scale, well what would that be called and what would it be (ex: 1 inch is how many feet…STOP LAUGHING YOSHI!!!). Model trains come In scale sizes and by names so what would it be for called for masterpiece ..if such a name would fit it…
You see boys and girls, I am what for the lack of a better term a ..AHEM “scale whore”…you see, I have a few folders on my drives about this very thing and I would like to have a answer about that’s all …I KNOW, I KNOW…. headmaster don!!! I know TF toys are NOT to scale but that does not mean I can’t continue my research on them/it!
theirs chart over/about it….YOSHI,STOP LAUGHING!!!
Tired, gonna rest now,
The rambled tired typing’s of
DMG
PS yo, DINO MAX wasup!! hope your doing good!
Good show, guys! Although, I’m with Dinobot Maximize here – if I had known you guys hadn’t see the stuff in the TFSource booth (Grant, Astrotrain, and others I can’t remember off the top of my head), I woulda dragged you in there to sho— Yeah, I probably would have asked politely. I talk a lot on the internet, but I’m sure you noticed that I’ve got a bit (a lot) of social anxiety, even in a comfortable environment like that. They had Fansproject’s Skullcruncher and Maketoys’ Guardia both on display in the 3rd party room, too. They looked fantastic.
I kinda wish I hadn’t spent the $400 on Quantron so I could have gotten a Grant and one of the Azaleas, but I think I like the Fort Max and Arcee colors (respectively) better. Oops.
I actually had a whole ton of things I wanted to talk to you guys about that weekend, but that afternoon at the table, everyone seemed so tired, and I was pretty overwhelmed, so I’ll just start asking them here as I remember them! Remembered the first: Aside from G1, what other Transformers shows have you guys enjoyed? I realize this disqualifies Yoshi.
It’s cool, I knew that we were going to be given a hard time from Darryl about the toys. It was worth it though. I enjoyed meeting you and what toy can compare to James Roberts coming and sitting at your table?
Since I’m out of town and will not be on the next recording i’ll answer this here. I really liked Beast Wars. It’s probably the series I have rewatched the most (including G1). Prime would be my next favorite. For all its faults, it was a pretty good series as a whole.
For all the toys I got, you are absolutely right – James Roberts sitting down with us to just relax was awesome. He sounded like he needed a break!
