Funny fact. I know Keith from KFC, and he asked me for name suggestions for his versions of Overkill and Slugfest. I suggested Steeltooth and Haymaker. He used the Haymaker, but went with Overslay from someone else… I still like my name of Steeltooth.
Do you guys think that the licensing of Shapeways projects as licensed “Transformers Art” will maybe one day extend to other third party companies? Like maybe someone like FansProject will be able to sent a percentage of their sales of Hasbro to put a label on the box saying it’s official licensed “Transformers art”? Then they can do more direct homages and use faction symbols and the real names of Transformers?
That would be really cool and Hasbro has done things like this in the past in terms of licensing out their properties to other companies. It would be really cool of Fansproject or others could gain such a license. I can’t even imagine what the fan reaction to such a thing would be.
The Alamo Convention comic cover is a repurposed Auto Assemply 2009 convention exclusive comic. Featuring the same Jurassic Park homage
Though I have been on Yoshi’s Mighty List several times. I think that getting on Chrstian Brock’s List is almost as good. I am proud to be Yoshi’s list week after week. I think that being able to out knowledge Charles is a even greater honor , though not by a big margin over Yoshi. I would like to ask again to all of the Transmissions Crew as to how many Transformers Comics each of you own? I am currently sitting with 615 individual Transformers Comics. And only 15 Trade Paper Backs. I am currently trying to go back and get some of the extra cover arts especially the MTMTE and RID ones. As my chop here rarely gets the sub or variant covers. All they mainly get is the main issue. Though I have lucked out that they have gotten eh Sub covers for a couple of Windblade and the new GIJOE vs Transformers.
I just had another idea on the Hasbro/Shapeways deal and was wondering what you guys thought. Hasbro is letting fans use Shapeways to generate officially approved “fan art” which generates a profit for the fan, Hasbro and Shapeways. I wonder if that sort of principal could be applied to another for a generating profit on the internet, like Youtube. Hasbro could have a section on their fan art web site for officially approved video fan art. We fans could make Youtube videos (reviews, motion comics, Fandubs, stop motion animation, “Trips to the Store” podcasts, etc), Hasbro approves of them and categorizes them, directing fans to view the “art videos”. Hasbro then get a small portion of the advertising money generated by the videos, while we get more video hits. I think there are more of us out there making Youtube videos than authoring 3D products on Shapeways, so it has a lot more potential interaction with the fans.
